We first heard about the upcoming Samsung NF series netbooks yesterday, and already we have our first hands-on. Liliputing took a look at the Samsung NF210. You’ll remember the NF210 slots in right between the low-end NF110 and the slightly more expensive NF310. Brad mentions that initially, the NF210 will be exclusive to Sam’s Club (think Walmart, but bigger) in the States, where it will be priced at $379.99.

The Samsung NF210 has a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N455 processor, a 10.1 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display, and a pretty funky curved design. See more pictures after the break. There’s a recessed keyboard situated between two fins. Samsung added a thin lip to the top of the display, which makes it much easier to grab and open the lid when the laptop is closed. The touchpad is perfectly level with the palm rest area around it, but does have a textured surface soyou can easily detect the edges of the touch area.

Samsung is shipping the NF210 with a 6 cell, 8850mAh battery which the company says should provide up to 14 hours of run time.

Samsung will also launch the NF310 netbook in the US which adds a metallic finish and the now famous dual core Intel Atom N550 processor. There’s also a high-res 1366 x 768 pixel display. Pricing should be around $429 or less. Unlike the NF210, the NF310 will be available through a variety of retailers.

Genesi USA has launched somewhat of a rarity in today’s netbook market. It’s a netgbook with a 10.1 inch display like most other netbooks, but under the hood is an 800MHz Freescale i.MX515 ARM Cortex-A8 processor. It’s called the Efika MX, and Genesi says it’s powerful enough to handle 720p HD video playback. The device has a 1024 x 600 pixel display, 16GB of storage space, WiFi, Bluetooth, and an optional 3G modem, as well as a 1.3MP camera, SD card reader, and mic and headphone inputs.

The netbook weighs about 2 pounds and measures about 0.8 inches thick, runsLinux and uses less than 12 watts of power. Pricing should comes in at $349, directly from Genesi USA. Unfortunately for them, one can get a Windows 7 netbook for about $50 less in the US. Then again, it uses much more than 12 watts and weighs more than 2lbs. We just wish it would come to the UK, and for about half the price.

We’ve seen lots of netook manufacturers jump on the Intel N550 bandwagon recently but this morning Samsung stepped it up a notch by introducing a brand new series of netbooks – the NF110, NF210, and NF310. The top of line mode, NF310, gets tej 1.5GHz Intel Atom N550 CPU and a 10.1 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display. It runs Windows 7 Starter Edition and should cost about $399 (in the US) when it goes on sale this Fall.

The middle of the range, Samsung NF210, also gets the sleek new design that is thicker in the back than the front, but drops the dual core 1.5ghz N550 for a single core 1.66ghz N455 chip. There’s a the usual 1024 x 600 pixel display and a starting price of $379 (again in the US).

We don’t have any information about the budget minded NF110, but we assume a N455 processor, low spec battery and minimal features.

More info when we have it, in the meantime, check out the full specs and some more pictures after the break.

It seems like every netbook maker is rushing to add Intel’s latest N550 processor to their lineup and Acer is no exception.Acer was quick off the mark in introducing its Aspire One D255 netbook way back in July and now it’s also the first to sell the dual core Atom N550 processor equipped D255 in the US at HSN.com. That’s right, the Home Shopping Network.

Anyway, the Acer Aspire One D255 is available for $399.90. It comes in four color choices, red, black, aquamarine, or sandsonte. All four models feature identical specs, including:

1.5GHz Intel Atom N550 dual core CPU

1GB of DDR3 1066MHz memory

250GB, 5400RPM hard drive

10.1 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display

Intel GMA 3150 graphics

802.11b/g/n WiFi

10/100 Ethernet

3 USB 2.0 ports

VGA output

6 cell, 4400mAh battery

You can find more details at HSN.com. I suspect we’ll see this and other Atom N550-powered netbooks pop up at other retailers soon. But right now it appears to be an HSN exclusive.

Intel may be on top for the ‘traditional’ processors used in desktops, laptops, servers, but the huge, up and coming market in smartphones and tablets primarily used chips from a company called ARM. Of course, Intel is not going to take that lying down, and they have plans to change that.

Intel is pushing forward in the low power space with designs that are intended for use in tablets, smartphones, and other low power devices. Intel CTO Justin Rattner told Reuters that the current Moorestown chips are on par with ARM-based chips when it comes to standby power, and that the next set of chips will rival ARM chips on active power. After that, Rattner says, the generation after that will pull ahead of ARM.

Those sound like fighting works. We’re happy to see the competition!

While Asus hasn’t even officially announced its upcoming Eee PC 1015PEM netbook that we reported on yesterday, but sometime this morning, an official product page went live… Don’t bother clicking though, since it’s already disappeared again.

Luckily, Notebook Italia caught a glimpse of the page before it disappeared. There’s an addition of the new 1.5GHz Intel Atom Dual Core N550 processor, support for DDR3 memory, Bluetooth 3.0, and USB 3.0.

Asus will apparently offer three different battery options, including a 48Whr, 56Whr, and 63Whr hour battery, which the company claims should be good for up to 10, 11, or 13 hours of run time, respectively.

Like most other Eee PC models, the Asus Eee PC 1015PEM will have a 10 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display, 1GB of memory, and run Windows 7 Starter Edition.

Earlier this week Intel announced a 1.5GHz dual core Atom N550 processor. Since then, tons of new netbooks sporting the new chipset coming out of the woodwork. One of them is the Asus Eee PC 1015PEM.

Tech In Style reports that the Eee PC 1015PEM will support up to 2GB of DDR3 memory and be able to handle 720p HD video playback. The netbook will be available in red, black, white, and pink colors and should ship for about 349 Euros in Europe. That’s just over $440 US, but PC prices have a way of falling a bit once they hit US shores.
