MSI y has finally gotten around to putting out a press release for its new MSI Wind U270 netbook. Unlike we intitially though, it turns out the laptop has a 12.1 inch display, not an 11.6 inch screen as I had initially thought. Whoops. Here are the rest of the specs:

• AMD Radeon HD 6310 graphics
• 12.1 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display
• Up to 8GB of DDR3 memory
• Up to 320GB of disk space

There’s still no word on pricing or a launch date for the MSI Wind U270.

MSI ‘sWind U160MX is a new version of the Wind U160 netbook MSI first introduced about a year ago.  The main difference between the new U160X is available with either a single or a dual core Atom processor.

Notebook Italia got their hands on the new MSI Wind U160MX and posted some unboxing pictures and first impressions.  Most of the U160x is like previous MSI Wind U160 netbooks, but the U160x has a touchpad shape has been tweaked and there’s now a little notch in the middle which should make it easier to detect the left and right sides with your finger without looking down.

The Wind U160MX also comes with a new brushed-metal style paint job and a “silver black” color scheme.

Some might say that MSI’s  Wind U135 netook is rather plain looking.  Indeed, the case design harks back to one of MSI’s first netbook creations, the MSI Wind U100.   So what to do?  MSI decided to give the U135 the ‘ice’ treatment, they’ve bedazzled the lid of the MSI Wind U135DX with Swarovski cyrstal.

Notebook Italia got some more details on this new model called the MSI Wind U135DX Crystal. It’s pretty much the same as any other Wind U135 netbook, but with the distinctive top case of course.   The netbook has a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N455 processor, 1GB of RAM, and a 10 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display. The Wind U135DX Crystal Edition will be available soon in Europe but no word pricing or which countries in Europe are included.

The MSI Wind U135DX (above) may look familir.  If it does, it’s because it’s identical to the current MSI Wind U135.   But there is one important difference. This new model has a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N455 processor while the original ships with a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450 chip.  The only real difference between Intel’s N450 and N455 chips is that the Atom N455 supports DDR3 memory, but for some reason the MSI product page for the Wind U135DX says the netbook ships with 1GB of DDR2 RAM. Go figure.

The rest of the specs are, a 10.1 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display, Intel GMA 3150 graphics, 160GB hard drive, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, a 0.3MP camera, flash card reader, 3 USB ports, and VGA output.

The MSI Wind U135DX will be available with a choice of a 3 or 6 cell battery. There’s no word on pricing or availability yet but the current MSI Wind U135 is available for £314.11.

Just when you thought MSI was getting stale in the netbook department, the company has announced two new 10-inch netbooks at Computex 2010 – although nobody seems to have actually seen them there.  Since no one got a hands-on video, or even a pictures, all we have are a few renders (above).  The first netbook is named “Fashion” (above) with a carbon fibre-like textured matte lid and a glowing MSI logo. The second netbook, “Serene” is apparently going to be silent with no ventilation ports on it.

Unfortunately, that’s all the info there is so far, but we’re sure we’ll here more about these soon.

Intel has announced new Atom Processors , the N455 and N475,  that are compatible with DDR3 RAM and one of the first netboooks to use them will be the MSI Wind U160DX .  Johannes at NewGadgets.de got a chance to checked out the new MSI Wind U160DX  netbook at a press event today.  They noted that it was mostly identical to the existing  MSI Wind U160 that was released a few months ago but with the new 1.66GHz Intel Atom N455 processor and support for DDR3 memory. MSI also says it can get up to 15 hours of battery life.

No info yet on cost or availability.

MSI have published a news post today revealing WiMAX laptops that they will be showcasing at Computex 2010 in early June.  Two netbooks make an appearance: The MSI Wind U135, and the MSI Wind U140.  The MSI Wind U140 has an identical chassis to last generation’s Wind U120 but switches out the Atom N280 processor for an Atom N450 processor. A 6-cell battery is ditched for a 3-cell battery with an overall weight of 1.2 kg / 2.6 pounds.

We had a quick look at the upcoming MSI Wind U140, but without WiMax, earlier this year in Thailand.

MSI Wind U135 - £279.99

Brad, over at Liliputing, takes a look at the latest in the MSI Wind series of netbooks – the MSI Wind U135.  Specs on the U135 are fairly standard – you get a 10.1 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display, 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450 processor, 1GB of RAM, and 250GB hard drive. It runs Windows 7 Starter Edition and has 802.11b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth 2.1.

Initial impressions are:

- Good design. Nice wide touchpad
- Just a single touchpad button for both right and left clicks.
- Lid is textured to prevent fingerprint smudges
- Glossy display does have glare in direct sunlight, but better for watching video.

The MSI Wind is on sale now at Amazon with free shipping thrown in for £279.99.

MSI has launched a series of new netbooks, namely the L1300, L1350, and L2300.  At this point, we’re not quite sure how they differ from teh current lineup of  Wind U130, U135, and U230 netbooks, but you can already by them in the US.  The MSI Wind L1300 is currently on sale for $280 from Amazon. This model has a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450 processor and a 10.1 inch, 1024 x 600 glossy display. It runs Windows XP.

TThe MSI Wind L1350 is also available with prices ranging from $300 to $330. This model has the same specs as the L1300, but ships with Windows 7 Starter Edition. T

The Wind L2300 doesn’t appear to be available yet.
