Jolicloud OS now allows in browser Google docs editing

Jolicloud, now to be called simply Joli OS, has launched Google Docs integration, letting users view text, spreadsheet, and presentation documents stored in their Google Docs account using the Jolicloud file browser. You can also preview and edit any files stored in your account, and view other, non-document files uploaded to your account.

The service should be available for all users now, but you’ll need to link your Jolicloud account to Google Docs to use the new feature. You can find out how at the Jolicloud blog.

Jolicloud 1.1 netbook OS coming next week

The new Jolibook netbook is already shipping with version 1.1 of the Jolicloud OS, but you can’t actually download the full version of Jolicloud 1.1 to install on your own netbook. However, that’s about to change since the Jolicloud team announced on Twitter that it needs a little more work and will launch around December 7th.

Jolicloud’s Jolibook netbook to launch in the UK first

Remember the rumour that Jolicloud was going to make their own netbook? Well, it’s true, and today Techcrunch has more details. The machine, to be called the Jolibook, is due out at the end of this month. Unsurprisingly, the netbook will run the Jolicloud 1.1 operating system which is based on Linux and Google’s open source Chromium web browser. It will have a 1.5GHz Intel Atom N550 dual core processor, a 250GB hard drive, and the ability to play 720p HD video.
