These days, the iPad has made tablets all the rage, but it’s easy to forget the convertible  laptps and now Gigabyte has just released a new model that takes things to another level.  The Gigabyte Booktop T1132N is a convertible notebook with a 1.6 GHz Intel Core i5 processor, an 11.6 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel capacitive multitouch display and discreet graphics.

Unlikee most convertible notebooks, the T1132N also turns into a  real desktop computer replacement, thanks to the Booktop docking station.Just close the laptop, stick it in the docking station and connect a mouse, keyboard, or monitor. The docking station also has a built-in DVD burner.

The Booktop can be configured to use 8GB of DDR3 memory, has a 2.5″ hard drive bay, a USB 3.0 port, a USB 2.0 port, and an eSATA/USB combo port as well as HDMI, D-Sub, Ethernet, and audio ports. There’s a flash card reader, 4 speakers including 2 woofers, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0, and optional 3G.

Gigabyte ha a new ultra-portalbe out called the Q1105.   This new Gigabyte has an 11.6 inch display, a slim case design, and an Intel Core 2 duo SU4100 low voltage processor. Netbook News recently got their hands on one and have posted a detailed review.  In short, the keyboard is large and easy to type on,but the touchpad needs serious help.  To start, it’s small and cramped, but also  unresponsive, and awkwardly laid out. The notebook offers decent overall performance and runs for about 4.5 hours on a charge.

The laptop sells for between $450 and $650 but no word on when we’ll get it in the UK.

The new Gigabyte M1005 looks like a typical netbook at first glance,but there is a difference.  You can close the lid and stand up the laptop in a docking station. What sets the M1005 apart from the original Booktop is that is has Intel’s new 1.5 GHz Intel Atom N550 dual core processor. The rest of the specs are pretty much the same, as is the overall design.  Netbook News got a little hands-on time with the Booktop and you can check out the video after the break.

Gigabyte is updating their M1005 and Q2005 netbooks with new Intel Atom Dual Core processors.  The Q2005 has the standard 10.1 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel screen along with 1GB of DDR3 memory (with support for up to 2GB), a 250GB hard drive (with support for up to 500GB), 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Optional Bluetooth 3.0, a 0.3MP camera, Ethernet and VGA ports, and a 3 or 6 cell battery. The company has also added the Gigabyte M1005 to its netbook line, with a 1.5GHz Intel Atom N550 dual core CPU.

The M1005 is similar to the company’s earlier Booktop netbooks, which means it’s designed to work with a docking station so that you can stick the computer sideways on your desk, plug in a monitor, keyboard, mouse and other peripherals, and use it as desktop computer — one which you can also grab and go for use around the house or on the road.

The computer has a 10.1 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display, 1GB of memory, a 250GB or 320GB hard drive, 3 USB 2.0 ports, Ethernet and audio jacks, and a memory card reader. It has 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0, and a 1.3MP webcam. The Gigabyte M1005 has a 4 cell battery.

The docking station also has 3 USB ports, Ethernet, mic, headphone, and D-sub jacks.

Gigabyte’s new T1005M is a 10 inch netbook with a difference.  It’s screen swivels 180 degrees to transform the machine into a tabletwith a touchscreen display.  Unlike previous models, this new T1005M has a dual core Intel Atom N550 processor and a capacitive touchscreen display.  The new model also has a new chiclet-style keyboard, a USB 3.0 port, and a redesigned hinge with a sturdier build.It also has an eSATA port and a USB 2.0 port.

Nicole from Netbook News got a chance to check out the new Gigabyte T1005M.  She was generally impressed with the machine, but did mention that the 7650mAh battery is rather large and unwieldy in the back, and the touchpad is awfully small.

Readers in the states  can pre-order the Gigabyte T1005M today from Amazon for $599.99.  The rest of you will have to wait, but can check out Nicole’s hands-on video after the break.

On the outisde, the Gigabyte Q1105M looks like a perfectly respectable thin and light notebook. But, inside you’ll find an aging Intel Pentium ULV processor when today’s latest and greatest will contain Intel’s Core i-series chips. Then, there’s the  3 cell, 2200mAh battery –  nothing to write home about.

The remaining specs don’t help it much either, there’s a11.6 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display, 2GB of DDR3 memory, integrated Intel GMA 4500 graphics, WIndows 7 Home Premium, a 250GB or 320GB hard drive, HDMI output, 3 USB ports, mic and headphone jacks and a flash card reader.  There’s also a low-res 0.3MP camera, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, and a 3.5G antenna for an optional 3.5G mobile broadband module.

No word on pricing or availability yet, but you probably don’t care.

The new  Gigabyte M1125 convertible tablet, due to be introduced at Computex, runs the new Intel Calpella chipset.  That means it will run one of Intel’s recently launched Core i3, Core i5, and Core i7 processors and won’t technically be a netbook.  However, the form factor is very much netbook. This model will have a high resolution 11.6 inch 1366 x 768 pixel touchscreen display and a full sized keyboard.

The Gigabyte M1125 will also have speedy USB 3.0 ports. The computer also comes with a docking station with an optical disc drive.

No more details until we see it at Computex.

Remember the M1000 and Q1000C netbooks Gigabyte launched at CeBIT 2010? Well it turns out the new M1000 is also going to be one of the first netbooks to get the next generation NVIDIA ION graphics.  Netbook News.de reports that there a new version of the M1000, called the Gigabyte M1000N and will feature a 1.83GHz Intel Atom N470 CPU, a 1366 x 768 pixel HD display, and of course, the next gen. Ion graphics.

Nvidia’s next generation Ion platform will come in two flavours – one designed for 10″ netbooks and another for 12″ netbooks.  The 10″ version of Ion has only half the  CUDA cores of the ION chip found in nettops and notebooks with 11.6 inch or larger displays. That means Gigabyte M1000N  won’t have the graphics processing power of larger netbooks like the Acer Aspire One 532G and Asus Eee PC 1201N, but there will also be fewer pixels to push on the smaller screens.

Along with the plethora of new models from Asus at CeBIT today, there were also a few from Gigabyte.   They hvae three new models on display at CeBIT this week,including the  T1000 convertible tablet style netbook, and the Q1000C and M1000 series netbooks.

Gigabyte M1000

This appears to be an updated version of the outgoing Gigabyte BookTop M1022. The new model swaps out the old 1.6GHz Atom N270 CPU  for a new 1.83GHz Intel Atom N470 chip. The M1000 also has a high resolution, 1366 x 768 pixel 10 inch display.

There’s a hands-on video from Sascha at NetbookNews.de which we’ve also embedded after the break.  He notes that his Gigabyte netbook now has a chiclet-style keyboard and a 6-cell battery. Like it’s predecessorit also has a docking port for connecting to a docking station and an ExpressCard slot.

This is a brand new model, featuring the new 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450 processor and a 10.1 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display. There’s a rather small touchpad with buttons on the left and right sides rather than below the touch area.  The Q1000C has 1GB of RAM, a 160GB or 250Gb hard drive, Bluetooth 2.1, 3 USB ports, VGA, and Ethernetjacks, and an optional HSDPA module.

Gigabyte S1024 Netbook

Gigabyte has the S1024 ‘Myou’ netbook, which is last of their trio of 10-inch netbooks.  The ‘Myou’ is an exceptionally thin and light netbook, weighing in at only 900 grams and is less than 1″ thick.

The Gigabyte S1024 houses a N270 Intel Atom processor with the usual integrated GMA 950 graphics with 1gb RAM and an 80gb hard drive.  The display resolution is 1024 x 576 in a 10″ screen and the 6 cell lithium polymer battery is rated  at 4hrs, 3600mAh.  It also has a decently sized keyboard at 92% full size.
