The Dell Inspiron Duo is a convertible tablet-style netbook with a 10 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display which swivels back inside the lid, allowing you to close the laptop and use it like a Windows tablet. The design is certainly both unusual and attractive. But I have to say I wasn’t really blown away.

Brad, at Liliputing, got a chance to check one out at CES last week. His biggest complaint was the weight of the machine. The computer weighs 3.4 pounds, which is light for a notebook, a bit on the hefty side for a netbook, and pretty heavy for a tablet.

Check out more of pictures and impressions at Liliputing.

Dell’s Latitude netbooks are aimed at education customers, so we don’t usually hear too much about them. But Dell has been consistently making minor updates to these little netbooks over the last few years. The latest of which, Notebook Italia reports , will be presented by Dell to the Latitude 2120 at at CES next week.

The update will bring support for an Intel Atom N550 dual core CPU option as well as an optional Broadcom Crystal HD video accelerator. There are 3 and 6 cell battery options, a 10.1 inch display (with an optional touchscreen), 1 to 2GB of RAM, and the usual smattering of USB, Ethernet, and VGA ports.

No word on pricing or availability yet.

Dell’s new convertible tablet-style netbook features an innovative design unlike the typical convertible netbook. Instead of the sideways swivel, the Dell instead allows you to push the screen to switch the netbook into tablet mode.

The folks at SlashGear have posted some hands-on photos, video, and first impressions of the Inspiron Duo. Here are some of the things they found.

Nice rubberized case makes the Duo easy to grip in tablet mode.

Fairly heavy for a tablet (or about average for a netbook).

Bezels take away from the screen size.

Dell’s custom, finger-friendly software launches whenever you switch to tablet mode.

There are no VGA or HDMI outputs on the Duo.

Make sure to hit up SlashGear for more photos and a brief hands-on video.

We just heard yesterday that the new convertible tablet Dell Inspiron Duo will be available next week. But, as many rumours go, it was ambitious. Dell has just announced that the Duo will start shipping the first week of December with a starting price of $549 (in the US).

The Inspiron Duo will have a 10.1 inch display and a 1.5GHz Intel Atom N550 dual core processor. It runs Windows 7 Home Premium, comes with 2GB of RAM, a 250GB hard drive, and a Broadcom Crystal HD video accelerator for 1080p HD video acceleration. The screen is an impressive 1366 x 768 pixel HD display, which is probably why they included that Broadcom HD accelerator.

Check out Engadget’s hands-on video after teh break, and also more details at the official Windows blog. Unfortunately, we don’t know yet when this Dell will come to UK shores.

Jkkmobile was there to get one of the first looks at the new netbook convertible from Dell to be called the Inspiron Duo. The most interesting feature of this netbook tablet is the screen which flips through the top lid, which can then be closed to use the netbook as a tablet.

Details are still scarce at the moment, but it’s confirmed to have a glossy 10″ capacitive touchscreen and to weight about 1.4kg. The Dell rep in the video (after the break) mentions they are working closely with Intel’s new AppUp store as well which just launched officially.

We imagine the rest of the specs will probably include one of Intel’s latest Atom chips, N455 and hopefully the dual core N550, along with 2gb of ram and a 250gb hard drive.

Check out the hands-on video after the break.

Dell is now offering a new version of the Inspiron Mini 10 netbook in Europe, and the UK as well. For the most part, the new Dell Inspiron Mini 1018 looks a lot like the Mini 10 But there are a few subtle differences:

The touchpad now appears to have separate left and right buttons instead of integrated buttons.

The 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450 CPU has been replaced with a 1.66GHz Atom N455 chip (with support for DDR3 memory).

The entire netbook is now one color instead of two.

The rest of the specs are pretty much the same, which means you’re looking at a netbook with a 10.1 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display, 1GB of memory, a 160GB hard drive, and Windows 7 Starter Edition. It’s available for 279 Pounds directly at Dell UK.

Well, it’s better late than never we suppose. Despite the fact that Intel’s Pinetrail processors launched last January, Dell has decided that now is the time to to update its Latitude netbook with Intel’s Pine Trail processors. The 10-inch Latitude 2110, like the previous 2100, is still very much aimed at students, and keeps its chassis in tact with the same rubber cover (available in red, blue and black) as well as that anti-microbial keyboard to protect against insect secretions, misplaced mayonnaise and far-flung mucus particles.

We don’t see pricing for the Latitude 2110 on Dell UK’s site yet, but in the States the Atom N450 processor, 1GB of RAM and Ubuntu will go for $389, and the Windows Starter option should boost the price to $419.

If you’re after a Dell Netbook with a Pinetrail processor now, don’t forget about the Dell Mini 10. It’s available now, for just under £200.
