New Toshiba NB520 netbook cranks up the volume
Toshiba latest 10 inch netbook has a rather unusual trick up its sleeve. Rather than the usual tinny netbook speakers, Toshiba has teamed up with Harman Kardon to provide the NB520 netbook with two Haman Kardon speakers tucked into the palm rest area. That should give this netbook better sound than your average 10 inch mini-laptop although don’t expect it to rival your home stereo. One nice feature is that you can also use these speakers with the netbook is turned off. Just plug in an MP3 player to blast your music to the world. The computer can also supply power to the USB port even when the PC is shut off, allowing you to charge gadgets without powering up the netbook.
The netbook also sports a dual core processor and better speakers than your average netbook. The Toshiba NB520 has a 1.5GHz Intel Atom N550 dual core processor, 1GB of DDR3 memory, a 250GB hard drive with a shock-absorbing system, and runs Windows 7 Starter Edition.
The Toshiba NB520 will run $599 in Singapore, no word on whether it will come the UK or not.
