BYD ODM Clones Sony’s Vaio P, Sort of…
Remember the Sony Vaio P? Well, here’s another netbook from China that taken at least a few ‘styling hints’ from that tiny Sony. The latest from ODM is called the BYD (I think I got that the right way around). It packs a 10-inch display, Atom Z530 processor, 1GB RAM, 1.8” storage, 2x USB ports and a SIM card slot for 3G. There’s an optical mouse instead of a trackpad and two buttons on each side of the mouse.
The downsides are that it lacks video output and an ethernet port and the battery is not user replaceable. Pricing is around $300 for manufacturers but you’re not likely to ever get your hands on one like all other previous Vaio P clones.
There’s more after the break.
