Samsung to make Netbooks for Kids?
Netbooks are inherently ideal for kids – they’re light, rugged (esp. with an SSD), won’t break the bank if they get lost or broken, and kids are well suited to smaller keyboard. And naturally, we’ve already seen netbooks aimed at kids from Asus / Disney and, of course the One Laptop Per Child XO (OLPC) project.
The lastest netbook aimed at kids comes to us from Samsung at the CeBIT 2010 show. They’ve issued this press release (in German) promoting a version of the Samsung N150 netbook for children. The hardware appears identical to the ‘adult’ version of the N150, but apparently the software is tailored to a younger audience. Seems to be a somewhat feeble attempt, but we do still think netbooks aimed at a youth market is promising.
