[Review] Dell Inspiron 11z
Liliputing has put up a review of the new Dell Inspiron 11z. It’s a thin and light laptop with a 11.6 inch display, making it a bit bigger than the current Dell Inspiron Mini netbook line. Also, the 11z negates the popular Atom processor we saw in the Dell Mini 9 and Mini 10 for an Intel CULV processor, which provides more power than the Atom chips. So, the new Inspiron 11z is placed firmly between Dell’s Inspiron Mini netbooks and their full sized laptops. Pricewise, it’s only a little more expensive than the 10″ Inspiron Mini 10z – the Inspiron 11z starts at £349 for the basic model. There are options for a more powerful dual core ULV SU4100 processor(+£110), different color lids (+£35), and a larger 6-cell 56 WHr battery(+£30) among the usual other options.
The highlights of the Inspiron 11z review:
- Asthetically, the Dell Inspiron 11z looks virtually identical to the Inspiron Mini 10v netbook.
- The Inspiron 11z has a high res 11.6 inch 1366 x 768 pixel display – the Mini 10v has a smaller 10.1 inch, 1024 x 600 screen.
- Customize the Inspiron 11z with pink, green, blue, red, purple, or white lids.
- No access panels on the bottom of the laptop, which means if you want to upgrade the RAM or hard drive you will need to order it that way, or perform minor surgery.
- With the base 3 cell battery it’s just under an inch thick. The 6 cell battery adds almost an inch to the height of the laptop in the rear.
The Dell Inspiron Mini 11z is available directly from Dell UK for £349.

[...] Netbook Review UK has a review up of Dell’s latest thin and light laptop – the Inspiron 11z. The 11z can be specced with a Celeron ULV processor, or a more powerful SU4100 dual core Intel ULV processor. Under the hood there are a range of hard drives, from 320gb to 500gb, 1-2gb of RAM and a high res 11.6 inch 1366 x 768 pixel display. No huge surprises in the looks department -it’s virutally identical to the Dell Mini 10z netbook, but you can customize the Inspiron 11z with pink, green, blue, red, purple, or white lids. Less positive news on the underside though, there are no access panels to upgrade RAM or the hard drive. It may still be possible, but you’d need to open up the laptop. [...]
