Nvidia Tegra 2 will Launch at CES Next Month
I’m sure you’ve heard of Nivia’s Ion platform, but what about Tegra? Well, Nvidia Tegra combines combines a low power ARM-based (vs. Intel Atom) processor with NVIDIA’s graphics to offer high quality video and graphics performance on small devices. Traditionally, Tegra has been aimed, and used, in smaller devices than Netbooks – notable Smartbooks and even the Zune HD.
The latest news, as Xbit Labs reports NVIDIA’s Michael Hara saying, is that the company will also be introducing its next-generation Tegra chipset at CES in January of 2010. The devices powered by the Tegra 2 chipset include tablets, smartbooks, netbooks, smartphones and other mobile internet devices.
As we reported earlier, the new Tegra 2 platform is expected to be twice as powerful as the current generation and some reports stats that it will feature a dual-core ARM-based processor.
