Chinese AOJIE X100V Netbook

While netbook are falling here in the UK, there are no netbook deals to be had here like these Shanzai found in China.Therea are two new models from a Chinese based manufacturer called AOJIE that are priced at just $146 and $160 US. That’s about £110 and £115.

Typically, when we see netbooks on this end of the market, they’re closeout models, or severly specc’ed down 7″ screen units with sluggish ARM-based processors. The AOJIE X100V and X100A, however,  both come with full 10 inch screens.   Furthermore, they both have netbook standard 1.6ghz processors.  The cheaper X100V has a 1.6GHz VIA C7-M processor, while the $160 X100A has a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU.

Both models ship with Windows XP, have 1024 x 576 pixel displays, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, 2 USB ports, a 1.3MP webcam.   The bargain basement pricing does begin to show with the  3 cell, 2200mAh battery, 512mb of RAM and a small 4gb SSD disk drive.  However, those parts are all easy to upgrade via the aftermarket, making these two netbooks the ideal jumping off point into ultra portable compuging.  If only they would make it to the UK market at this price.
