Techcrunch’s Crunchpad is still alive
There hadn’t been any recent news regarding Techcrunch’s much anticipated Crunchpad tablet despite earlier news that it would be launched in November.
Some have even been predicting that the tablet was vaporware, but in this week’s Gillmor Gang, Arrington says that the CrunchPad is still very much alive, and expected at a pricepoint of between $300 and $400 dollars in the US. He goes on to reveal that it costs somewhere in the “upper $200s” to produce. In an effort to defray that cost, Arrington is looking to cut the cost by using sponsorship opportunities like the parnership that Firefox has with Google. In that relationship, Mozilla is able to gain significant revenue from Google for using Google Search in the Firefox browser.
So, the Crunchpad is alive and kicking and hopefully (likely?) we’ll see a launch in time for the Christmas shopping season. In the meantime, check out the video from the Gilmore Gang after the break.
