Qualcomm announces their Smartbook – it’s a Lenovo!
This fuzzy screengrab (above) snagged from Qualcomm’s webcast is the first shot of an upcoming Smartbook to be brought out by a partnership between Lenovo and Qualcomm. As expected, Qualcomm’s CEO Paul Jacobs unveiled the first Snapdragon-powered smartbook today for the US market. It will produced by Lenovo and sold through the wireless carrier, At&t.
The Lenovo Smartbook will use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon platform which bundles a low power ARM-based CPU with integrated wireless features and 720p HD graphics capabilities. The chipset is aimed at smartbooks and also smartphones, both of which necessitate always-connected features coupled with all day battery life.
Further specifics are hard to come by, and this new smartbook won’t officially launch until January at CES. Initial reports from Dow Jones Newsire said that it “looks much like a thin notebook,” and Smartbook Blog said that it’s “thinner than a Palm Pre.”
