HP’s 11.6″ Dual Core DM1 Netbook Reviewed
Netbooked has put up a review of HP’s new contender in the ‘smaller than a netbook, but smaller than a laptop’ otherwise known as the ‘thin and lights’. It’s a 11.6″ screened machine, running an Intel SU2300 CULV (dual core 1.2ghz) processor with 3gb of RAM. Coming in at £469.99, the HP is certainly not less expensive than a fully fledged laptop, however, it is considerably smaller and lighter (just 1.46kg) and manages to eek out about 5 hours on its 6 cell lithium ion battery.
The rest of the review was mostly good news for the DM1 as well. They found that high definition 720p video playback was possible on the DM1′s 1366×768 pixel display, although 1080p was only possible after installing the Beta 10.1 flash player which supports hardware video. Praise was also in store for the the excellent sound quality (thanks to Altec Lansing), low fan noise, minimal keyboard flex, and an impressive microphone. The DM1 was slightly let down by a cramped keyboard, and its touchpad which has ‘creaky and stiff buttons’ and no multi-touch support.
So overall, it looks like a pretty good effort by HP. Check out the full specs after the break, as well as a few more pictures.
