NVidia’s Tegra platform is looking to be one of the most exciting developments to come out of Tapei’s Computex this year.  Here, on video, Gordon Grigor, NVidia’s Director of Mobile Software shows off a device running their Tegra platform streaming a 720p MSN HD trailer off the web (over WiFi) then switches over to Firefox show off Flash in full screen on Flash Earth.   There are two version,  the Tegra 600 can do H.264 video at 720p while the Tegra 650 can decode 1080p

For Smartbooks applications using Tegra, we are looking at 256MB – 1GB RAM configurations, with 512MB probably being the most common to keep prices low – projected to be within $150-200 dollars.  That means no huge Firefox missions with 20-30 tabs open, more like 3-4 tabs ont the 512mb versions.

OS wise, no Windows XP, Vista or 7 here – it’s Windows CE or Google Android.  Dual boot should be possible.

Battery life is another plus – small, light 3 cell batteries should afford you about 8 hours.

So, sit back and enjoy this great demo and interview, it’s worth a watch as Grigor explains the benefit of their Atom-smashing GPU not just for video, but also web browsing.
